Flour and Grain Mill Product Manufacturing in Tamilnadu

This pioneer introduced the flour mill industry in Madurai. Second World War dislocated the entire commercial activities in the country. The usual movement of Grams, Dhals, Gram Flour to the South was disrupted and there was severe shortage of all commodities.

During this time of crisis, Thiru. S.V. Sankaralinga Nadar took a bold decision and commenced the flour industry. He flagged off with gram flour sales.

The journey was challenging initially. With his perseverance and a ‘never give up’ attitude, Mr. Nadar built up the sales one step at a time. He also expanded his product line into rice flour, peas flour.

By maintaining high quality and competitive pricing, he created a substantial market share for SVS products.

Mr. Sundaramurti, a law graduate from the Madras law college has been instrumental in scaling up SVS brand and taking it to greater heights. He has followed his father’s footsteps all through. Titled as ‘VanigarSri’ by Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, Mr. Sundaramurthi has held various senior positions in many organizations and contributed to their growth significantly. Mr. Velshankar is well known for his dynamic nature. He expanded the retail segment when packed foods were introduced in 1980’s. With over 3 decades of rich experience, he increased the company’s market share two-fold.

Mr. Velshankar believes in giving back to the society and holds very responsible positions in various organizations. As the Honorary Secretary of Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, he voices the problems of traders in new taxation and policies of the government. He is titled as ‘VanigarSri’ by the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association. He is also the Honorary Secretary of the prestigious Madurai Rifle Club. With many medals, national and state level awards to his kitty, he trains students and members for competitions. He is certified and titled as ‘MeiGnanaAsiriyar’ by the Universal Peace Foundation, Thirumurti Hills. He is also the Treasurer of Universal Peace Sanctuary, Madurai.

As the next gen partner of the firm, Mr. Suraj focuses on utilizing his education in marketing, finance and customer satisfaction. He aims in bringing value added, healthy and innovative food products to the market.

Mr.Suraj spends his spare time in social activities with his family members. He is certified and titled as ‘MeiGnanaSelvar’ by the Universal Peace Foundation, Thirumurti Hills. He is also an Executive Committee Member of Universal Peace Sanctuary, Madurai.
